The Nigerian Immigration Service introduced Monday that returning Nigerians might be admitted to the nation with their expired Nigerian passports.
This was acknowledged in a memorandum addressed to all of the Heads of Missions, Immigration Attachés, and the Comptroller of Airports and Airways.
In accordance with the memorandum signed by the Particular Assistant to the Comptroller Normal (Division of International Relations), DCI BM Lawal to the Comptroller Normal of the Immigration Service, Muhammed Babandede, all airways are requested to permit holders with expired Nigerian passports to board with none obstacles.
The memorandum reads: “I’m directed to respectfully current the greetings of the Comptroller Normal of the Nigerian Immigration Service and notify all related authorities that the Federal Authorities of Nigeria has permitted that returning Nigerians could also be admitted to the nation with their expired Nigerian passports.
“Accordingly, all airways are requested to permit holders of expired Nigerian passports to board with none hindrance.”
“Moreover, all Nigerian Diplomatic Missions overseas are kindly requested to distribute this info to the airline operators and border authorities of the host nations for them to take essential motion.
