Obasanjo lied to get South East votes – Presidency



The Presidency on Monday stated former President Olusegun Obasanjo “lied” to the citizens within the South-East to garner votes throughout his tenure between 1999 and 2003.

It acknowledged that regardless of promising to construct the Second Bridge in Niger, the previous chief failed to satisfy his promise.

The presidency stated that regardless of not garnering votes from the area, the regime of President, Main Normal Muhammadu Buhari (Retd) constructed the bridge believing it was the fitting factor to do.

“Obasanjo lied to the South East to get their votes. President Buhari didn’t get their votes however he constructed the bridge as a result of he believed it was the fitting factor to do,” stated a press release signed by the Senior Particular Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Monday night.

Shehu’s assertion comes barely 24 hours after Obasanjo denounced the Buhari regime, describing his tenure as “hell on earth” for Nigerians.
