Wall Avenue Journal journalist Evan Gershkovich has been arrested in Russia on suspicion of espionage, in keeping with Russia’s Federal Safety Service, or FSB.
“The unlawful actions of the Moscow bureau correspondent of the American newspaper The Wall Avenue Journal, American citizen Evan Gershkovich, born in 1991, accredited to the Russian Overseas Ministry, suspected of espionage within the pursuits of the American authorities, have been suppressed. . ”, the FSB stated in an announcement printed on Thursday by the state information company RIA Novosti.
The state information company TASS reported that he was detained in Yekaterinburg, on the japanese aspect of the Ural Mountains.
The FSB assertion stated that Gershkovich was detained “whereas attempting to acquire secret info” associated to “the actions of one of many corporations of the Russian military-industrial advanced.”
